context: as a tattooer, the subject of pain comes up often. Over the past few years I have had so many conversations about how our pain is so often ignored or dismissed. After reading Pain and Prejudice by Australian author, Gabrielle Jackson, (life-changing btw!) I learnt more about how misogyny infiltrates the medical system leaving many afab people and minority communities without empathetic medical support. In all of my conversations with clients about this topic, we all seem to bond over how scary it can be to look for help, especially when we have no idea to go to - or who will listen.
My entire medical team is now comprised of people recommended by either clients or friends, and without their recommendations I may have never found treatment for the issues I have. I am incredibly lucky to now have a network/ platform where I can reach others and it has been a long term goal of mine to put together resources from the wealth of knowledge and experiences shared by my clients. So, I posted asking my clients for their recommendations for doctors in Brisbane, in the hopes that it may make seeking medical help less daunting.
if a doctor has been recommended by one of you as being helpful for a certain condition, I have included it! I just haven’t gone through each doctor’s specialties as listed on their website to avoid making this list too long.
if a doctor has listed on their website that they are, or if they have been recommended for being LGBTQI+ friendly they will have ☆ next to their name. Auspath also has a page of their recommended doctors for Trans Health. I haven’t listed all of their providers (as I was only including ones recommended by you guys) but the link to their recommendations page can be found here!

Physios:
The pricing for physios seems to have a huge range. It is worth mentioning that if you have a chronic disease management plan you are able to get Medicare rebates for physios and other services.
Not Just Bendy // Eight Mile Plains // This is a personal suggestion for anyone with EDS and/or hypermobility. This service is dedicated to hypermobility and was incredibly validating and understanding when a task was outside of my threshold for pain. // fees depend on who you see, I will include their price list here, under a CDMP you would get Medicare rebate (I believe you’re eligible if you have been diagnosed with EDS)
Pear Exercise Physiology // Wavell Heights// This is a personal suggestion for anyone with chronic pain or reproductive conditions like endo, pcos etc. The entire team here is so passionate and knowledgeable in “invisible illnesses”. I cannot recommend them enough, they have been incredibly supportive, and validating and have rallied behind me to find a specialist who would take me seriously // usually around $100
Healthy Peach ☆ // Grange // Pelvic floor physio and some physios here also specialise in musculoskeletal conditions // $150-190
Specialists:
Kate Kerridge // Gynocologist // Everton Park
Katelyn Bowden // Dietician // West End // so kind and supportive
Alex Lehn // Neurologist // “has always taken on board everything I say”
Louise McCormack // Rheumatologist // Dutton Park // incredibly validating, has never doubted my experience and has always fought for the best outcomes for me. isn’t afraid to admit that medicine doesn’t yet know everything about auto immune conditions, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be given treatment and help!
