cancelling, rescheduling and deposits
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unwell or cannot attend your appointment
If you give at least 48 hours/ 2 days notice your deposit will transfer over to your new session. If you reschedule giving less than these 2 days’ notice (for any reason) you will lose your deposit as this covers the lost drawing time and income from your session. It is incredibly difficult to fill spaces with so little notice, so any and all notice in advance is appreciated.
I know (at the moment especially) sometimes the money we hope to have saved by the time our appointment rolls around isn’t there, so please know i hold no grudges if you need to reschedule for budgeting reasons. I just ask that you please let me know ahead of time (as it will save you losing your deposit)
Please don’t no show! I completely understand that things pop up sometimes, if something major prevents you from being able to attend at last minute please let me know when you can. No shows, without communication will result in a permanent black list.
Deposits are non-refundable, so please make sure you read through the next section to ensure the medications you take will not bar you from getting tattooed.
is there anything I should do before my appointment?
Please refrain from taking any blood thinning medications including but not limited to, Nurofen, fish oil, aspirin, etc 48 hours prior to your appointment. (this does not include your regular, prescribed medications, please take care of yourself and take your meds if you have them, if you have any questions, reach out. if you are prescribed blood thinners please tell me in advance so we can arrange medical clearance)
Make sure you have eaten within 3 hours before your appointment, and that you are hydrated and well-rested.
Make sure you are not sun burnt in the area that will be tattooed. I cannot tattoo over sunburn. If you come to your appointment sunburnt and we have to reschedule you will lose your deposit to cover the cost of the station set up for you and the time put aside for your booking.
Please let me know if you are taking antibiotics before your appointment as we will have to reschedule !! antibiotics affect your immune system, meaning they can impact how your body heals the tattoo. For this reason, I will not tattoo you while you are on antibiotics. Let me know in advance so we can reschedule your appointment for after you have finished your course of antibiotics. If you come to your appointment on antibiotics and we have to reschedule you will lose your deposit
Please let me know if you are on Accutane or have been on it in the past 6 months. you cannot get tattooed on accutane and we will need to reschedule for 6 months after you finish your course.
Please do not consume alcohol 48 hours before your booking. Alcohol thins your blood. This can affect the tattoo process, resulting in excessive bleeding and making the tattoo much more painful, and less likely to heal well.
Make sure you have a valid, photo ID
have a read through your rights as a client
Finding the Studio
The studio address is L1 388 Logan Rd, Stones Corner
When you enter the ground floor of the building, you'll see a staircase to the left – just head up! The door is likely to be locked when you arrive, but don’t worry – just buzz the doorbell.
Parking options nearby:
Aldi Parking Building (free! this is my recommendation!) – The entrance has a boom gate and ticket machine. However, the exit has no boom gate, and I’ve been told parking is free there; they just haven’t removed the ticketing system yet.
Secure Parking (paid parking) – This is directly behind the studio but tends to be fuller since it’s smaller. The address for this carpark is 19 Stoneham Street. If you park here, you can enter through the back door. There’s a bathroom building to the left with a large bin outside. Head past the bin and you will see a staircase with a green door up the top (that’s us). Just Buzz the doorbell
2-hour street parking along Logan Road.
can I bring someone to my appointment?
yes and no, although you are welcome to bring someone to your appointment to sit with you in the waiting area, unfortunately, they will not be able to sit with you during the tattoo. the space I’m in is quite small, and I often have to move around a fair bit during the tattoo - so the space we do have needs to be free.
if you want someone to chat with to distract you, I am always happy to do so! I often love talking with clients, it’s not distracting for me so feel free to chat the pain away
if you would prefer to bring headphones and listen to music or watch videos please do! everyone has different ways of coping with pain and feeling safe, so do not feel bad about doing what you know is best for you! I will not take offense if you would prefer to not talk, or zone out.
will I see the design before my appointment?
I will have the design ready for you at the start of your appointment
I always factor in enough time for minor changes
I am always happy for you to send out a detailed map or plan - I never think you’re being pushy, if you have an exact layout in mind send it through!! I find it really helpful
because of the high number of appointments, I do not send out designs ahead of time without a drawing fee.
if you would like to see your design early, I am happy to do so, provided you pay an early drawing fee - if you would like to do this please let me know so we can arrange that!
The design that is sent out earlier is just an outline, this is because our stencil machine does not include shading.
The cost of the design is always included in the tattoo, I do not charge extra to draw a design for you and I do not charge extra for any changes requested. This early fee is only for those who want to view their design ahead of time, as oftentimes I do not start a drawing until the days before an appointment, this routine is what works best for me as an artist for several reasons:
to ensure I have a healthy workload and can put 110% into each design instead of rushing
reschedules and cancellations happen! Drawing the design the days before/of lessens the chance that I will spend time drawing for an appointment that may not go ahead.
to ensure my designs don’t get taken to other artists to be tattooed
disruptions to this routine can be time-consuming, and stressful. for this reason, I and many other tattoo artists ask for payment to see designs ahead of time.
can I use numbing cream?
In most cases I will advise against using numbing cream as I often find it makes the tattoo (especially shading) heal a lot lighter than usual.
I understand that numbing cream offers many people a lot more comfort - it is incredibly helpful for people with chronic pain or anxiety and for this reason I will never say no! Just understand that we may need to book a second session to go over the tattoo again and that this may incur a cost to cover supplies and time. (this price will always be discussed ahead of time - please feel free to ask any questions)
If you choose to use it, I ask that you only use numit , as other brands can change the skin texture making it far more difficult to tattoo.
you will need to supply and apply your numbing cream yourself and come to your appointment wearing it
for instructions on how to apply it, please ask the pharmacist you purchase form. I, as a tattoo artist, am not a medical professional. Therefor, I cannot give medical advice or instruction.
it is vital that you perform a patch test before using each new tube of numbing cream - even if you have used this brand before. .
If you are struggling to decide whether or not to use it/ if it will help, you can read more here.
how do I take care of my tattoo?
aftercare instructions can be found here
do not go swimming, or submerge/soak your tattoo in water for 2 weeks (including baths, pools, ocean, etc)
do not pick at your tattoo
keep it out of direct sunlight
keep it clean, and do not let pets near it
what do I do if I need a touch-up?
it will take about 2-3 weeks for your tattoo to be healed. for this reason, I usually recommend waiting about 1 month after your tattoo to decide on whether you need a touch-up as this gives time for the ink to settle.
if you need a touch up please email me, and include photos of your tattoo healed for me to see how much time I will need to book!
touch-ups are free within 6 months of your original booking.
changes to the original, agreed-upon design (eg adding shading) will be done at a cost.
please don’t feel like you’re being rude by asking for a touch-up! skin is an everchanging and varied canvas - I know that and I have no issues doing what I can to best remedy any inconsistencies that have occurred, either from the healing process or otherwise.
